Steven Chen\'s insightful and significant article expresses the sentiment of the Neo-Confucian philosopher Chu Hsi (A.D. 1130-1200) who takes the seminal phrase \"To know ultimate knowledge lies in the investigation of things (zhi zhi zai ke wu)\" from \"The Great Learning\" as the cornerstone of his influential philosophy.  Mr. Chen touchingly writes from the perspective of his young daughter and enjoins the busy and acquisitive populace to \"investigate\" their daily actions and conclude that the natural world provides all that we truly need. Moreover, Chen urges world leaders to enact effective policies to nurture nature.
