Fossil Fuels have been the major energy source for human activities since the Industrial Revolution. Our dependency on the fossil fuels is still increasing and will keep increasing for a long time if we do not aggressively push for change. At a glance, fossil fuels seem to be the cheap energy source compare with many other energy sources. However, obtaining energy from fossil fuels is very costly if we consider its environment impact. The entire process, from the beginning to the end, creates various pollutants in huge volumes. They have done and are still doing great damages to the land, water system, and air.  Now, scientific studies have shown that their main byproduct CO2 is the major contribute of global warming, which has the potential to do unrecoverable damage to the entire planet. It is time for us to seriously look for energy sources which are much clean.
Ironically, abundant clean energy sources are all around us.  They are in the form of solar, wind, biomass, geothermal, ocean current, and hydropower. With the advancement of technology, we are able to harvest energy from those sources at relatively low cost in a much clean way. The only reason those clean energy sources are still not widely utilized is that our currently economic policy is heavily in favor of fossil fuels due to the fact that fossil fuels were our only choice of energy sources.  Now, we have much better choices. It is time for us to change the policy so that a clean and sustainable energy system can be build.
This section will discuss each of those clean energy sources.
